About the Author

Amirtharaj Christy Williams is a wildlife biologist who has been working for over two decades to save Asian elephants across several countries from India to Malaysian Borneo. His work has ranged from raising money to putting boots on the ground to protect elephants to lobbying political leadership for policy changes that are elephant friendly.

Dhan Gopal Mukherji (1890–1936) grew up in Bengal, before he moved to Japan and then the United States. His children’s books include the prestigious Newbery Medal-winning Gay-Neck, the Story of a Pigeon, Kari the Elephant, Hari the Jungle Lad, Ghond the Hunter, Hindu Fables and Fierce Face, among others.

S. Eardley-Wilmot (1852–1929) was a British civil servant, forestry officer and conservationist who worked primarily in India and Burma (now Myanmar) and served as Inspector-General of Forests. In recognition of his conservation-lead method and unorthodox approach to forestry, he became a Knight Commander of Order of the Indian Empire in 1911.
