His first Sherlock Holmes novel, A Study in Scarlet (1887), introduced the world to the brilliant detective and his loyal companion, Dr. Watson. The success of Holmes' adventures, including The Hound of the Baskervilles and The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, cemented Doyle’s legacy in the mystery genre.
